R / Python Developer

Location: Washington, DC
Analytica is seeking a talented Data Scientist with strong quantitative research and analytics capabilities to support federal government consulting engagements.  The R Programmer will perform research on large historical healthcare data sets, develop and improve statistical and machine learning approaches for products and custom research reports, demonstrate good research and technology practices throughout the organization. 

Responsibilities include but may not limited to (Duties may vary by assignment or contract):​
  • Perform original quantitative research, including acquisition of domain knowledge, determination of important research questions, data collection and manipulation, statistical analysis, and technical writing and presentation
  • Write R or Python code using current best practices, including reproducible research and web-based data visualization 
  • Think abstractly about solutions to problems and how to creatively meet client needs within resources and data quality constraints 
  • Collaborate with statistical programmers and machine learning engineers to integrate research-driven statistical models and insights into production software systems
  • Work with large, complex data sets in databases and text files
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with product managers, software engineers, and customer-facing teams 
  • Iterate dynamically on alpha concepts and prototypes based on user testing and feedback
Requirements: 
  • A Bachelors or higher with 2+ years of professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience with statistics, modeling and analysis to perform self-directed hypothesis-driven research 
  • Experience with programming and software development, including Python, R, or another high-level language used in statistical computing
  • Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Neo4j a plus
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Position of Public Trust designation
