Data Engineer

Analytica is seeking a Data Engineer to support federal government client engagements in the Washington DC metro area.  The company works with U.S. government customers in health, civilian, and national security missions.  As a core member you’ll work with a diverse team of professionals to develop application systems for clients in a platform-diverse environment.    
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing data extraction and delivery between transaction systems and analytics repositories
  • Support customer utilization of large, complex, and disparate data sets and recommend solutions aligned to customer mission and task accomplishment
  • Provide business analysis and data modeling to meet all technical specifications and business requirements for transaction processing and analytics
  • Perform analytical exploration and examination of data from multiple sources of data
  • Design and develop data ingestion frameworks leveraging open source tools such as NiFi, Sqoop, Hive, Java, Pig, Python, as well as data processing/transformation frameworks leveraging open source tools
  • Design and build data pipeline frameworks to automate high-volume and real-time data delivery for on-premises and/or cloud platforms, leveraging technologies such as Kafka, Apache Spark, Python, and AWS-based solutions
  • Design and implement data repositories
  • Design and build RESTful APIs
  • Design and develop data cleansing and data quality management processing
  • Ensure proper security and access control to analytics data
  • Build and deploy application code using CI/CD tools and techniques and provides support for deployed data applications
  • Support the development, integration, and visualization of data science/machine learning algorithms for testing and operational deployment
  • Develop application systems that comply with the standard system development methodology and concepts for design, programming, backup, and recovery to deliver solutions that have superior performance and integrity
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, data scientists, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced Scrum-based Agile environment 
  • Contribute to determining programming approach, tools, and techniques that best meet the business requirements
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the analysis, preparation of specifications and plans for the development of data processes
  • Bachelor’s degree required, and Master’s preferred in Statistics, Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, or another quantitative field
  • Strong problem-solving skills, information technology experience, and data engineering techniques
  • Five+ (5) years of data management and engineering experience
  • Data Modeling (logical and physical database modeling and design) for analytics processing
  • High degree of experience utilizing Python to support the development of complex data solutions for data collection, organization, management, movement, and storage of structured and unstructured data that meet business and technical requirements
